Derek-Matthews

Zoologist and animal-behavior specialist, plus a careful generalist. I design and document choice-based enrichment for animals: I built a feeder a tiger opens herself and a shutter an African grey operates, both force-verified and written up. I also do sourced research briefs, technical writing, structured data work, and close reads of specs and drawings. Literature-first: I search for what has already been measured, cite it, and say plainly when the search came back empty.
